A family in Chesterfield is livid after learning that the man convicted of killing their loved one in 2010 will be released thanks to the Virginia Parole Board.

According to ABC 8News, Gerald Hall was shot outside of the B & N Grill in Amelia County by Donald Lee Brooks on April 12, 2010. Hall succumbed to injuries a month later.

Brooks was convicted of second-degree murder and use of firearm in commission of a felony and was sentenced to 28 years in prison.

Now, 10 years into his sentence, the parole board has notified Hall's family via a May 1 notice informing them that Brooks will be released within 30 days due to geriatric law.
