Richmond, Va. ( - The State Senate united Tuesday to remove State Senator Amanda Chase (R-Chesterfield) from the Local Government Committee, the sole remaining committee she sat on.  The committee assignments were shifted as a result of the death of State Senator Ben Chafin (R) from Covid.

Chase lost other committee memberships following her decision to quit the GOP Caucus.  Chase has long battled with Republican Senate Leadership.  She has also had a controversial start to this session, and is facing a censure vote because of her actions and words surrounding the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol January 6th.  Chase attended the rally prior, and has called those involved "patriots."  She also made baseless claims of Antifa involvement, which law enforcement has said was not the case.

Chase has threatened to try and censure others if she is censured.  The vote to remove her from the committee was 37-1, with Chase the only no.  State Senator Joe Morrissey (D-Richmond) didn't vote.
